Tiny House Communities in Florida, Tiny House Fest in November

1 min read

Florida Tiny house festROCKLEDGE – This Brevard County city, the oldest in the county, is the home of a new Florida tiny house community. The city approved tiny houses last year, with the community running the proposed Rockledge Tiny House Community through standard Planned Unit Development regulations.

You can follow what’s happening with the community on their Facebook page, available HERE.

Nationally, Florida is seen as one of the best locations for tiny houses, namely because of the available land, the temperate weather, the demand for rental and vacation houses, the ubiquity of RV’s and the looseness of many jurisdictions with issues of zoning.

Those interested in building or buying a tiny house in Florida would do well to visit the Florida Tiny House Festival, set for Nov. 18-20 in St. Augustine.

A bit more about it:

Rockledge, FL. Located about 1 hour southeast of Orlando and 13 miles west of Cocoa Beach. Specifically, the area we are targeting is near the Barton Blvd. corridor, which is the “downtown” area of Rockledge. There are several reasons we are very excited about this area, including walk-able amenities such as parks, shopping, and public transportation, as well as being central to Rockledge and nearby community events. Feel free to use Google Maps (or any other mapping tool) to check out Rockledge and see what’s in the area.

The Rockledge Tiny House Community will be a Pocket Neighborhood. Read all about pocket neighborhoods here: www.pocket-neighborhoods.net. We envision a diverse community of friends from all ages and walks of life, looking for simpler living through a smaller home and a community atmosphere. The community will be centered on the idea of sharing resources as well…residents being part of a community; where the neighbors can watch your kids while you run to the store, feed your dog while you’re on vacation, you know…things that close-knit neighborhoods do. The houses will range from 170 square feet to around 700 and will be arranged around a common greenspace to encourage interaction.
