SARASOTA – The restaurant Pomona is a cozy, urbane restaurant just north of Fruitville Road in downtown Sarasota. The young, well-dressed crowd at the restaurant favors its unfussy service and straightforward meals presented without pretense.
The restaurant puts a big focus on small plates and charcuterie. Chefs Ryan Boeve and Arthur Lopes use organic and local ingredients; their selections include chicken pate and rabbit. One nice touch; after the meal you can get a cheese plate with items from France, Italy and Spain.
How to label? They call it a “refreshed Franco-Californian palate” and I guess that makes sense. Entrees are not “bistro” prices and run from $20 to $35.
At 481 North Orange Avenue, Sarasota, Florida 34236. Call 941-706-1677 for reservations. See www.pomonabistroandwine.com
